Iraq War (2003 – 2011)

The Iraq War, which began with the Invasion of Iraq, evolved in response to eradicate the spread of global terrorism. The United States lead a multi-nation coalition (including the United Kingdom, Australia and Poland) to remove Saddam Hussein and the Ba’athist government from power. Although Hussein was captured in 2003, tried in 2004 and executed in 2006, the war waged on for another five years. Estimates put the number of civilian casualties in the hundreds of thousands and allied military casualties and losses at over 25,000.
